My Impact...

Currently, a big chunk of of my 'spare' time is spent on a social enterprise that I passionately ramble about - so if it is something that tickles your brain, please do get in touch!

A Rural Lighting System for Developing Countries

RAWR Energy is developing a rural lighting system for developing countries to overcome lighting poverty by providing sustainably sourced batteries and establishing a minimum lighting standard across developing countries. There are currently over 1.4bn people living in lighting poverty globally, the aim of RAWR Energy is to primarily introduce access to healthy lighting to a minimum of 1.5m households and create over 4000 jobs over a 3 year period to the 750m people who live in lighting poverty across Sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on Kenya, Ghana and Tanzania. RAWR Energy (already) have a working prototype developed over a year as part of a university research project. It consists of a solar PV module, a regulator, a battery source and LED lights. RAWR Energy has created a high performing team of various experiences, begun to establish partnerships with other organisations in the sector as well as appointing leading academics and industry experts for advisory roles.

My system looks like this at the moment:

Which, as apparent is a bit of a mess, the aim is to have it looking something like this:
